Laughter yoga/ therapy is a great way to address the symptoms of stress, anxiety and depression to name just a few. It a great social gathering. It's an aid to boosting your cardiovascular system whilst having fun. I have used this with success within schools, hospices and with a variety of support groups.
Laughter unites us and is universally understood – it connects people, breaks down barriers and promotes positivity, better health and happiness.
WHAT IS LAUGHTER YOGA??

Is this laughing in the lotus position? Laughter Yoga is all about laughter. No conventional yoga asanas (postures), just a room full of people giggling. Wonderful!
Why’s it called Laughter Yoga then? firstly, laughter has a longer exhale than inhale, expelling stale CO2 from the lungs; secondly the word ‘yoga’ means union – during a proper belly laugh the mind stops fidgeting and unites with the body and the spirit.
Do you tell jokes? The brilliance of laughter yoga is that it teaches you how to laugh for no reason! It is not humour-based, so you can be an amazing participant even without a sense of humour!
How does that work? Studies have shown that the mind doesn’t differentiate between actual and imagined experiences. If you pretend to laugh with enough gusto, the signals from your body tell your brain you’re actually laughing.
Laughter is contagious and we mirror strong emotions of those around us: once a few people progress into genuine laughter, the rest of the room tends to follow. Try a couple of sessions and see for yourself!
What does a session involve? An explanation, a warm up, a quick ‘ho ho ha ha ha’ chant, playful exercises such as laughing at your imagined credit card bill, or inventing a laughter orchestra, a freeflow laugh, and a calming meditation. The session is structured to build gradually so people feel comfortable.
Why is laughter brilliant? Laughter is a lot more fun than sit ups but gives you a good work out, and encourages your heart and lungs to re-oxygenate the body.
